Happy Birthday Proba-1!… with SPACEBEL Congrats

After 15 years in orbit, ESA’s Proba-1 (Project for On-Board Autonomy) satellite is still alive and kicking and delivering high-quality images to the scientific Earth observation community.

Launched in October 2001, PROBA-1 is a prime example of Belgian know-how in Space: the small spacecraft originally conceived for testing new space technologies has been built by prime contractor QinetiQ Space Belgium with the control software developed by SPACEBEL.

SPACEBEL is also involved in the development of the Proba-2 (sun observation), Proba-V (vegetation monitoring) and Proba-3 (formation flying) satellites of ESA.
