Proba-V Celebrating 4 Years in Space

Proba-V-satellite-ESA

Launched on May 7th 2013 from Kourou and conceived to map land cover and vegetation growth across our planet Earth every two days with increased spatial resolution, ESA’s vegetation watcher Proba-V is still operating extremely well in orbit. Given its success, the mission has been extended until October 2019 at least.

On the occasion of the satellite’s 4th birthday, a new Proba-V website has been published on line containing magnificent photos and time-lapse videos. Discover them here.

This small Earth observation spacecraft “made in Belgium” is fully equipped with SPACEBEL software: the on-board software, ground control centre and satellite simulator.
