SPACEBEL Proud of Space Days 2012 “Zoom on Earth” Great Success (September 26th–27th 2012)

SPACEBEL, in our capacity of Chairman of Wallonie Espace, had the honour and pleasure to welcome Mr. Charles Bolden, NASA Administrator during the opening cocktail of the Space Days 2012 on September 26th at the Palais des Princes-Evêques in Liège. Other big names of the space sector – Dirk Frimout, first Belgian astronaut, Kathryn Sullivan, Deputy Administrator of NOAA… – enhanced the festive evening with their presence.

The 4th edition of the Space Days « Zoom on Earth » dedicated to Earth observation gathered some 300 professionals from fifteen countries in the Amphithéatres de l’Europe, ULg. They were able to attend the debates led by a dozen of high-level international experts. Mr Jean-Jacques Dordain, ESA’s Director General, was one of the VIP keynote speakers. Several technical presentations led by Wallonie Espace members as well as representatives of large space corporations such as Thales Alenia Space and Astrium have also generated considerable interest.

The event also includes a “general public” component  in the form of an exhibition “ Look at Me “on the impact of remote sensing technologies on everyday life. Visits until October 28th 2012 at Médiacité in Liege.

Many thanks and congratulations to all those who have contributed to the outstanding success of the Wallonie Espace Space Days 2012!
Looking forward to seeing you in 2014 for the next edition…!

(Special thanks to ULg, Michel Houet, for his wonderful pictures!)
