SPACEBEL Wishing OUFTI-1 a Good Journey into Space

On April 25th 2016, OUFTI-1 (Orbital Utility For Telecommunication Innovation) will fly off into space from the base of Kourou.
It will be the first nanosatellite to serve as a relay in space for radio amateurs using the D-STAR communication protocol.
This CubeSat “Made in Belgium” of hardly 1 kg has been developed since 2007 by students of the University of Liège (ULg) and several high schools in the Liège region in collaboration with the industrial world. SPACEBEL, project partner from the outset, has brought their expertise in software and telecommunications to this ambitious enterprise. Designed for a two-year operational lifetime, OUFTI-1 is part of the educational programme “Fly Your Satellite! of ESA.
